In this novel by Catherine Austen, All Good Children deals with a dystopian world that is flooded and mutated, though trying to keep with humanity, but they quickly lose it. It starts out with Maxwell Conners coming back home to NewMiddleTown from his aunt's funeral, all ready to start his grade 10 year and play some football with his friends, and just have a normal year. Though Max starts to notice something very strange as he walks his sister Ally to school, all the children weren't having fun, they were standing in line waiting to go inside the school. I wants people to listen to him that the children aren't normal but no one listens, not even caring about the children being some kind of zombie, brainless. Turns out it is a drug they give to the children and they are going to give it to high school kids soon, starting with the grade 9s to the grade 12s, but first the kids in detention, where Max and Dallas find themselves. They hid the drug with a Hepatitis B injection, Max and Dallas manage to avoid the drug injection, they now need to act like they were to not attract suspicion by teachers, parents, and the principal. As the year goes by, they realize that they need to escape NewMiddleTown and go somewhere that doesn't have this brainwashing drug, with Max's mom and his sister they venture off. All Good Children by Catherine Austen depicts this dystopian as a way where almost no one empathizes the children's thoughts, losing there humanity becoming monsters proud of there mutation.
